Wedding Shoe Trends for Spring 2012

Our guest blogger Brea Gunn, a wedding industry insider, is back with us today to talk about the shoe trends you can expect to see for spring.

I’m sure that you’ve already figured out that I have a complete and total shoe obsession (What girl doesn’t?). I’ll fess up: I’m a nutcase when it comes to the latest, greatest shoes. Which is why I was super excited to see some new trends emerging for this spring.

If you’re shoe shopping for your upcoming spring wedding then you’re just in time to find the hottest trends hitting the stores. And you have plenty of time to shop for the perfect pair (It’s a match made in heaven, I’m telling you!). So… What should you wear for your wedding this spring?

One of my favorite trends is metallic heels. They’re fabulous! I love the look of a polished shoe that adds some interesting flash to an outfit while still remaining ladylike and aisle-appropriate. And they’re shiny. Who doesn’t like a little shine?

Here are some fabulous metallic shoes from MetallicBridalShoes.com:

Webster in Silver by Caparros

Belina in Gold by Paris Hilton

Ivanna-320 in Silver by Touch Ups

Another new trend is an older look that’s coming back: pointed toes. I’ve noticed this classic look in the collections of all the top designers, including Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, and Alexander Wang. I love a good sassy, pointy toe. It’s demure with a bit of edge. And a pointed toe elongates your leg – always a bonus for ladies.

Here are some great pointed toe shoes from MyGlassSlipper.com and BridalShoes.com:

Zeta by Touch Ups

Ankle straps are also making a comeback – just in time for some great strappy sandal weather. More and more brides are choosing sandals for their spring weddings, and with an ankle strap, you can even get that great “jump shot” (Lame basketball reference, I know. Forgive me, please.) Ankle straps provide the extra support you need when wearing a sexy sandal with a barely there look.

Here are great wedding shoes with ankle straps from MyGlassSlipper.com:

Jeweled by Badgley Mischka

And, for those vertically challenged girls (like myself), platforms are back in a big, big way! We’re not talking demure hidden platforms – those are always fashionable. This spring, thick, ’70s-style platforms are everywhere. Unless your future hubby is just a few inches taller than you, I’m voting for a high platform sandal with an ankle strap for a winning shoe this season.

Here are some stellar platform wedding shoes from MyGlassSlipper.com:

Randee by Badgley Mischka

Extra by Stuart Weitzman

The TACORI Takeover: The Hottest Trend in Bridal Jewelry

Today we’re resting our heels with a treat for our readers: A post about must-have bridal jewelry! Our friends at the Elizabeth Diamond Company shared their favorite bridal jewelry trend with My Glass Slipper. What’s the news? A Tacori takeover!

Before you spend hours selecting the perfect shoes to complement your perfect dress, you need to have one little thing first: an engagement ring. Keeping pace with the glam new shoe styles, Tacori engagement rings are the hottest trend in bridal jewelry. Tacori rings and jewelry have recently been spotted on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, Emmys, and Oscars; in bridal mags like Martha Stewart Weddings; on the covers of W, ELLE, and InStyle; and on starlets like Twilight saga star Nikki Reed and actress Tia Mowry.

Why are Tacori rings so popular? Tacori has been in the jewelry business for over 40 years, and they are experts at designing stunning fine jewelry. Each diamond engagement ring is handcrafted in the Tacori design studio in California, so no two pieces are exactly the same. According to Paul Tacorian, “Heirloom elegance with a modern touch is the Tacori style.”

Tacori has five collections of rings, each with a unique style, with dozens of designs in each collection. Whether you prefer a vintage look, something simple, an elaborate design, or a bold, modern style, Tacori has a ring for you.

The Simply Tacori collection offers contemporary looks with heirloom appeal. Much like Audrey Hepburn, these rings showcase an elegant, classic style:

In the Tacori Crescent collection, signature Tacori crescents in the band create windows of light along the sides for interest from every angle. The more light around the diamond, the more fire and brilliance:

The Tacori Engraved collection features bands with hand-etched details in a wheat or scroll design that add beauty to the ring through depth and artistic inspiration:

The Tacori Dantela collection presents elaborate, glamorous designs featuring a larger central stone surrounded by smaller diamonds and intricate details:

The Tacori Neotare collection showcases distinctly modern designs with a bold look. These rings feature wider bands that truly embrace your finger and proclaim your wedded status to the world:

Tacori also offers a large selection of wedding bands for both men and women in each of the five collections. You can browse the Tacori website directly or the site of one of their authorized dealers, such as Elizabeth Diamond Company, to see more of their gorgeous designs.

Enjoy the sparkle and your own happily ever after!

Christian Siriano’s Designing a Bridal Collection for Nordstrom!

If you’re in the market for a haute couture wedding gown at an off-the-rack price, you may be luck: Designer Christian Siriano announced he’s partnering with department store chain Nordstrom to create an exclusive bridal collection.

The past Project Runway winner tweeted the exciting news yesterday: “Excited to announce we are doing an exclusive bridal collection for Nordstrom. Here’s the very first one, more to come!”

Attached with the message to followers was this picture, revealing the first wedding gown from his impending line:

Our immediate thoughts: While this is a downright pretty dress, we expected more from Siriano, who’s known for his high-fashion and over-the-top concoctions. This dress is not a white version of his signature runway aesthetic.

The creation doesn’t stray far from current wedding gown trends: strapless, fit-and-flare, pleating, a two-tiered skirt, a wispy floral attachment. It’s nothing out of the ordinary, and we’re not sold that this will stand out amongst other wedding gowns in the bridal industry.

It’s – dare we say? – generic. At least coming from a designer who is known for such a unique, breathtaking style.

Christian Siriano’s runway gowns

Siriano is arguably the most successful Project Runway alum because of his sassy personality and stunning creations – he’s stayed true to his couture aesthetic in the past, and we hope he doesn’t pare down his signature style to appeal to the masses.

We would love to see the wedding gowns fashionistas are yearning for, and Siriano seems like the perfect fit to deliver wedding dresses that look like they’re straight from the runway.

The first gown from the collection, shown above, is priced at $2,375. Further details have yet to be released.

What do you think? Is that the dress you expected from Christian Siriano?

Inspired by the Red Carpet: Bridal Headbands

Our guest blogger Veronica Castro, owner of bridesmaid and mother-of-the-bride destination boutique Vesa Dresses, is back on our blog today to dish on a new bridal fashion trend inspired by the red carpet: Bridal headbands. This is a sweet and romantic look any bride can master.

Bridal was definitely the inspiration for some of the celebrities at the Golden Globes, from beautiful flowing dresses to sparkly accessories. One noteworthy celebrity accessory that works perfectly for brides is the headband.

Busy Phillips at the Golden Globes

Michelle Williams at the Golden Globes

Headbands have been on the rise in bridal fashion for the past few years now – gone are the days that everyone wears a tiara when they say “I do.” Believe me, I love to wear my tiara but the headband is just such an ethereal look. Brides can find headbands with delicate ribbons or stretch bands that can be secured with bobby pins for a secure fit. Crystal rhinestone headbands look stunning with an up-do or down with curls.

You can feel free to accessorize your look with a brooch, bracelets, earrings, a beautiful belt and a gorgeous big necklace, even with a headband on. Accessorizing is essential to creating a stylish look that’s all your own.

Veronica Castro is a graduate of L.I.M and F.I.T in NYC.  She has more than 8 years of experience in the bridal industry. Recently married herself, Veronica loves being a part of the wedding experience. The owners of Vesa Dresses are a mother and daughter team.

Vesa Dresses is located at 381 Centre Street in Nutley, NJ. For more information, call the store at 973-798-2562 or check out the store’s website at VesaDresses.com. Friend Vesa Dresses on Facebook, follow the store on Twitter, and follow on Pinterest, too!
