Our guest blogger Brea Gunn, a wedding industry insider, is back with us today to talk about the shoe trends you can expect to see for spring.
I’m sure that you’ve already figured out that I have a complete and total shoe obsession (What girl doesn’t?). I’ll fess up: I’m a nutcase when it comes to the latest, greatest shoes. Which is why I was super excited to see some new trends emerging for this spring.
If you’re shoe shopping for your upcoming spring wedding then you’re just in time to find the hottest trends hitting the stores. And you have plenty of time to shop for the perfect pair (It’s a match made in heaven, I’m telling you!). So… What should you wear for your wedding this spring?
One of my favorite trends is metallic heels. They’re fabulous! I love the look of a polished shoe that adds some interesting flash to an outfit while still remaining ladylike and aisle-appropriate. And they’re shiny. Who doesn’t like a little shine?

Belina in Gold by Paris Hilton
Ivanna-320 in Silver by Touch Ups
Another new trend is an older look that’s coming back: pointed toes. I’ve noticed this classic look in the collections of all the top designers, including Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, and Alexander Wang. I love a good sassy, pointy toe. It’s demure with a bit of edge. And a pointed toe elongates your leg – always a bonus for ladies.

Ankle straps are also making a comeback – just in time for some great strappy sandal weather. More and more brides are choosing sandals for their spring weddings, and with an ankle strap, you can even get that great “jump shot” (Lame basketball reference, I know. Forgive me, please.) Ankle straps provide the extra support you need when wearing a sexy sandal with a barely there look.

And, for those vertically challenged girls (like myself), platforms are back in a big, big way! We’re not talking demure hidden platforms – those are always fashionable. This spring, thick, ’70s-style platforms are everywhere. Unless your future hubby is just a few inches taller than you, I’m voting for a high platform sandal with an ankle strap for a winning shoe this season.
