How to Get Married Like a Celebrity ~ A guest post by a wedding industry professional in Hudson Valley!

So you’re getting married. Congrats! Now for the important part: the planning. If you want to make a statement (and don’t we all?), then you’re going to have to go big or elope. This summer it’s all about celebrity weddings. Of course you don’t want to be left out, so I’m here to help.

We all wish we were celebrities, don’t we? Admit it…you hope every morning that today will be THE day. No, not your wedding day (we’re getting to that), but the day you get your big break. Well, today, you’re in luck. I’m going to walk you through YOUR celebrity wedding. We need to remember all the trends, and keep up with the times, after all.

First and foremost, the ring. You’ve got to make it a stunner. The average weight of a celeb’s engagement ring is 4 carats…at least it was until Kim Kardashian threw the curve. Now it’s probably more like 10 carats. Either way, you need to put your foot down and insist that your ring be AT LEAST as large as the next girl’s.

Once you’ve got the ring, it’s time to start planning. Outdoor weddings are all the rage right now, and the bigger, the better. Tents are a great way to keep the paparazzi at bay. If that’s not enough, then you may want to consider hiring security guards or moving the wedding last minute. Of course, the venue is the least of your worries.

We’ve got to find you at least three dresses so that everyone will be surprised when you walk down the aisle. And we cannot forget at least two pairs of shoes (one for the ceremony and one for pictures), and a dress specifically for the reception. It should be by a different designer than your gown, of course.

As for pictures, be sure to add lots of props, such as waterfalls, tractors, moats, faux hoedowns…let’s really run wild with our imaginations.

OOH! We absolutely CANNOT forget your bridal party. You have at least fifteen friends, right? No? Well go make some more, because you MUST have a bridal party large enough to reach the next zip code. And they all must wear vintage designer duds. No exceptions.

As for your honeymoon…you’ve already reserved that private island, right?
